Ma'agalim

Project type

Music video

Uri Lotan and Yoav Shtibelman decided to transport the audience to a forgotten 1930s penny arcade where a wooden doll is stuck in place and time. This setting serves as a metaphor for the song “Ma'agalim” (Circles), capturing the melancholy of being trapped in a routine while the world relentlessly moves forward, leaving the protagonist behind in a beautiful, mechanical loop.

To emphasize this emotional stagnation, the characters express themselves through their silhouettes and functional movement to convey their essence.
The protagonist, "Scarf Girl," was designed with a deliberate, innocent anonymity, allowing the audience to project their own emotions onto her. The animation feels like the physical engine driving the music forward, trapping the characters in a cycle that feels impossible to break.
